To fill another square on her Building Bridges with Books bingo sheet and fill another slice of pizza on her Book It! paper, we read an Eric Carle book.

“The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle

This is one of Lily’s favorite books. She has it pretty much memorized and can “read” is really well.

The is a lighting vocabulary word, so Lily was sure to point that the book starts with THE!

I liked the book. ッ

Why do you think Eric Carle wrote this story?
He wanted a book for kids. He wanted to tell how a caterpillar grows up to be very hungry, then be a butterfly.

This started a conversation about the life cycle of the caterpillar. She knows that all loving things have a life cycle that will eventually come to an end.
