King Gyros

Since today was a chilly, gloomy day, we spent the afternoon at the main library. We explored before the kids settled on different activities; Lily on the computer playing ABC Mouse, and Navy befriending a little girl at the preschool playscape.

After that, we decided to find a new place to try downtown. After driving around for a little bit, we ended up at King Gyros across from Parkview Field. Lily wasn’t very old the last time we’d been, and Navy has never gone.

I ordered a gyro plate because it’s King Gyros! Lily ordered a cheeseburger with mustard and pickles. Navy ordered a hotdog with ketchup and pickles. I did get Lily to try a piece of gyro meat, and Navy tried a piece of pita bread. It’s a start.

Our order was fast, less than 5 minutes. Always a huge bonus when you’ve got two hungry kids. I devoured my food. The tzatziki sauce on the gyro meat was delicious! My meal came with fries, which I gave to the kids to share. No way I would have been able to eat them anyway.

Navy really liked that they had a lunch counter with stools. He picked our seats right by the door. Thankfully, they weren’t busy!

One minor gripe was the absence of an actual children’s menu. The kids could have easily split an adult plate if they would have wanted a gyro.

Meat slow roasting. Navy is very grumpy. Frowning with fries!

The kids would like to go back when it’s warmer because they want to sit outside on the patio. I love Greek food, and this place is delicious. I definitely think that can be arranged!
