This was our second Hello Fresh meal.

I have been really looking forward to making these burgers. Though I find cooking ground beef to be intimidating, I was hoping this meal would help alleviate some of that.

Get these items out:

I did not have parchment paper on hand. Though the recipe says that you can make the frico without, I would definitely not recommend it.

Setting all of the ingredients out really helped with the ease of prepping everything for the meal. The first step is always washing and chopping the veg. Hello Fresh has everything else measured out for you. It makes the prep part go quickly, but it’s also a great habit to form when cooking.

Ingredients:

  • Ground beef
  • Brioche buns
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Red onion
  • Tomatoes
  • Broccoli
  • Sherry vinegar
  • Ketchup

Ingredients not included were salt, pepper, olive oil, and sugar. These were all ingredients that we had on hand.

The frico was the only thing that proved to be a challenge. Frico is cheese that has been baked or fried until it’s a crispy chip. I also make my cheese piles too high, so they didn’t melt and crispy evenly. I ended up with crispy on the edges, gooey in the center cheese.

Complaints from the kids:

  • No pickles for the burgers
  • No mustard
  • Broccoli instead of fries

The burgers went over really well. The kids ate all of the meat and cheese. I’m really looking forward to trying the frico ago.
