“Big Max and the Mystery of the Missing Giraffe” by Kin Platt

It has been a challenge to find an age-appropriate mystery book. She’s not quite ready for Nancy Drew. Fortunately, when I was looking through the beginning reader books at the library, “mystery” caught my eye!

Spoiler alert! Her book report gives away the ending!

Lily’s Book Report

I liked the book. I liked that they were so happy to find the missing giraffe.

What were the important events? The king called Big Max because of his giraffe. They found him at the soccer field.

Why did the giraffe run away? Since he saw the soccer game on TV.

Staycation: Day 1 – Productive

Today has been incredibly productive, even more so that I had hoped!

We had a fun trip to the library. Lily got the rest of the books she needs to complete her Building Bridges with Books bingo sheet. Navy got some new books about animals and trucks. I got the American Girl Kit Kitteridge series (again).

We also discovered movies at the library, which will save us on rental fees!

Lily and I played post office with some outdated ATM envelopes. They were just going to be trashed, so we are making sure they don’t get shredded in vain.

Lots of cleaning and organizing. It’s time for autumn cleaning! Then, packing…

My fantastic man and his friend came to see about fixing my van. Navy observed and turned on the hose to help. So grateful for wonderful, caring people who are willing to lend a hand to keep my family safe!

I am so impressed with everything that we’ve gotten done and that we even squeezed in some fun!

“Walt Disney’s Cinderella”

“Walt Disney’s Cinderella”

Lily needed to read a fairytale for her Building Bridges with Books bingo sheet.

This abridged version of the classic Disney movie was a fun read, and Lily pretty much knew the story line from having seen the movie (on VHS).

Lily’s Book Report

I liked the book.

I liked that the dress was getting fixed with the spell.

I didn’t like the people tore the dress and the spell getting broken.

Who was the main character? Cinderella.

How did Cinderella feel at the end of the book? Very happy.
Why? Since she got to marry the prince.

“Doggie Holidays” by Shirley Scott

“Doggie Holidays” by Shirley Scott

The author was kind enough to autograph and “pawtograph” this book for both of the kids.

I tear up reading about Matt every time. Yet, it’s a great memory I’m glad Shirley shared with young readers. Matt is truly missed.

The Adventures of Jack and Dobbie is Shirley’s website for the series!
