We found this idea on Pinterest a couple of weeks ago. Lily loves to create art, so we’ve been finding lots of ideas like this, ones where she can get a couple instructions and work on her own for a while.

Lily is motivated.
She wanted to ride a bike without training wheels, she pretty much taught herself (with a little help from Mommy and Papa…very little).
Now, she wants to learn to tie her shoes. She practiced for about a half hour, but I made her call it a night. She was tired, and extremely frustrated. However, she’s almost got it.
I really love Lily’s motivation and her attitude to not let anything stand in her way.
Flip side: It makes her a challenge to parent. She is so determined, in spite of consequences. We have been seeing tons of improvement though, especially as she matures.

I painted the inside of the cabinet door (yes, really) with chalkboard paint. The idea being that I can write Lily a list of what she needs to do (take a bath, brush her teeth, comb her hair).
Well, she’s been drawing on it, too. Multi-purpose, I guess.

Lily got a new bike for her birthday. Since then, she’s been asking (read, begging) to have her training wheels taken off. We haven’t yet, but Papa did with the bike he has at his house.
She so wants to ride without training wheels that she’s been trying to do it herself. She’s also pretty good, and can go 10-30 feet before she puts her feet down…
Or epically crashes…

Lily got her Bob Evans birthday coupon in the mail, and she wanted to use it.
Yes, she really is that filthy.
Yes, I took her out in public like that.
