Meet Blake

image

Our family welcomed a new member a couple weeks ago when this handsome guy was born.

Meet Blake.

He was such a sweet baby when we visited. Lily and Navy took turns holding him. Thankfully, he was not jostled too much.

Hoping we can visit Brittney, Brayden, and Blake again soon!

Life Gets a Little Crazy Sometimes

image

We’ve been on-the-go a lot lately. We’ve had zoo outings, Girl Scout field trips, back-to-school shopping, and the many festivals that happen in our area.

Today was supposed to be much of the same. It didn’t work out that way, but that’s what I had planned.

Instead, the bulk of our day was scrapped. After dinner, we blew bubbles.

Where In the World: Places I Want to Go

image

When I was younger, we always went to the same place for a yearly, week-long vacation. I have lots of fun memories of the trips we took.

I’ve taken the kids on short day trips, like our recent trip to Portage, Michigan.

I’ve also taken them on long trips. Lily and I went to Texas in 2008. Navy came along when we went again in 2011.

Henry and I went to Vegas, sans kids, in 2012. It was strange not to have them, but nice for it to just be us for a couple of days.

Watching the History Channel has given me tons of ideas for places that I would like to visit.

Right now, I am working on my mega list. Everywhere in the United States that I would like to visit. Cities, specific attractions, all if it.

So far, I have 17 places. Some that we can do as day/weekend trips. For example, Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek, Michigan. That can easily be a day trip. Others, like Disney World and Washington D.C., are going to take more planning (and money).

I’m up for suggestions!

What’s on your list?
Where have you gone?

My Son Wants to Be a Girl Scout

image

Navy is 2. He sees his 6-year-old sister put her Girl Scout Daisy uniform and head off to adventure.

Sometimes, he gets to tag along to her meetings. They are filled with stories, giggling, crafts, and snack time.

Who wouldn’t want that?!

When I was picking some things up at ScOutfitters for Lily, I picked up a Brownie sash for Navy. The Brownie sash was much cheaper than the Daisy tunic, and he will be entering kindergarten when Lily heads into Juniors.

I also bought some numbered birthday patches from Michael’s for Navy’s sash.

When checking out, the cashier said another troop had some little brothers who were kinda jealous and tagged along. They got them Girl Scout shirts and called them the Cookie Crumbs.

He adores his sister. Girl Scouts is teaching Lily to be an empowered, compassionate young lady who is active in her community. Sharing that with her little brother is a good thing.

I think Juliet Gordon Low would be proud.

Project 365: Day 138 – One Less Tooth in Lily’s Mouth

image

Lily has had this tooth barely hanging on for a couple of weeks. It was starting to hurt when she ate. It needed to go.

Now, it’s gone. The Toothfairy will be coming tomorrow night.

Lily is excited!
