Roasted Chicken au Jus
with Orzo and Peas
I haven’t breaded chicken without Shake ‘n Bake, so this was something new. Baking in the pan was also something I hadn’t done. I did burn myself, but that was the worst thing about this meal.
Kitchen items to get out:
Ingredients not included:
Ingredients in the box: Lemon, Chives, Flour, Breadcrumbs, Spice mix, Chicken, White wine, Chicken stock, Parmesan, Orzo, Peas, Butter.
I was pretty lazy with the meal prep on this one. Thankfully, there wasn’t much to do. Mixing the breading and making the sauce were the most difficult part.
The chives. Not happy.
The breading for the chicken was pretty simple. Thankfully, the spices were mixed. Just add flour and breadcrumbs.
Orzo. It’s pasta, but it’s like rice. Lily really likes rice, so I wanted her to try this. She had another helping, so it’s safe to say that we’ll be making this again.
The finished product was super moist chicken, a tasty pasta, and a delicious sauce. The peas added a subtle sweetness and a pop of color. The orzo absorbed the tangy sauce and was a great compliment to the dish without being heavy.
