Of the four meals that I received from Plated, 2 had fresh chives. I was pretty stoked because I typically use freeze-dried chives because they’re something that I just have in the spice cabinet.
These are the chives from the Roasted Chicken au Jus. They we salvageable. I ended up losing about half of the chives, but moved on.
I know that this is a fresh item, which is shipped. Sometimes, depending on the season, fresh items get funky faster. Blah, blah, blah.
Whatever. I found a way to make it work. Everyone was happy. There were chives in the dish.
Then, I started preparing the Buffalo Chicken Meatball Sliders.
The chives were growing some kind of creamy slime on them. There was no hope for these chives, so I just threw them away and went to my trusty tin of freeze-dried chives.
No worries. They worked well in the yogurt sauce.
It wasn’t until I was reviewing the meals on the Plated app that decided to report the issue. Plated makes it very easy to report problems with meals. There’s even a picture option.
I reported the issue for both sets of chives and moved on. I was not expecting the email back from Plated customer service that I got!
Here’s the email I received:
Good afternoon Sara!
First off, I’m so sorry to hear about your poor chives (especially in your first box with us!!!). That is definitely not the level of quality and freshness that we wish to deliver to our customers and I’m truly sorry you had to go through that.
I can assure you that our packaging teams are doing their very best to fill out our customer’s orders with the freshest ingredients available. Although mistakes do happen, I truly hope that this didn’t bum out your night too bad. Hopefully you can enjoy a fresh handful of chives with us in the near future.
I have issued your account a $40 credit (full meal value), which will automatically apply to your next Plated box, to help make up for this inconvenience.
This is never the level of quality that we wish to execute and I hope that this is the last time you have to encounter a situation like this again. Seriously, without helpful and understanding customers such as yourself, Plated just wouldn’t be the same.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Us chive lovers need to stick together!
I hope you have a lovely new year
All the best,
Edo

Yes, it’s a bit cheesy, but I loved it. With this level of customer service, I would absolutely give Plated another shot.
I’ve already looked ahead for menus in the next few weeks. I found one that I absolutely cannot wait to try.
You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation however I to find this topic to be actually something which I think I’d by no means understand. It seems too complex and extremely wide for me. I’m taking a look ahead in your next put up, I’ll attempt to get the grasp of it!
Doing the meal step by step, it’s pretty easy! It is NOT as hard as it looks. 😉
