Project 365: Day 35 – The Kindness of Strangers

image

This is how my morning started. Got the kids loaded in the car with time to spare. Was driving slowly. Slid a little, corrected a little. Slid a little more, corrected a little more. Spun. Slid into ditch.

A lady driving by stopped and said she would ask her dad if he could help us since he had a truck. She drove by 5 minutes later to let us know he was on the way.

While we waited, Lily told me, “Our can spinned in circles, and she got really dizzy, but that’s okay because it was fun.” She also said she wanted to do it again.

Mike arrived and surveyed my dilemma. He said we needed to get the snow away from the wheels, then go up the embankment at an angle.

Meanwhile, Dad arrived and made sure we were all okay, which we were. I was much more calm at that point.

Mike got the tow strap in place. The first tug was unproductive and my tires spun. The second one got me back on the road.

So grateful for the kindness of strangers!!

Project 365: Day 32 – The Path to Debt Free

image

Today, I paid off two credit cards. Iy felt great to finally be done with them.

The one that I’m especially proud of is GE Capital. It was a great card, but when circumstances prevented me from making the payments, they refused to work with me. Today, I just settled. I’m just done trying to work with them to pay it off, only for the fees to prevent that.

Yes, I know my credit score takes a hit. It cannot be any worse that what it has been with the problems I’ve had with GE Capital.

I’ve also taken a chance to take inventory of my debts. I’m please that I have 2 credit cards left. Both companies were helpful with my circumstances and have worked with me. I am grateful and will continue to be a customer.

My only other debts are my house and student loan. Both of which I’m chipping away at.

Did I also mention, I actually have money in my savings right now? Been a while since I could brag about that!

Project 365: Day 31 – McDonald’s Mail

The fabulous people in the marketing/PR department for McDonald’s here on northern Indiana were kind enough to send us a package with lots of goodies.

As you can imagine, Lily was beyond thrilled. Here she is, showing off some of the presents we received.

McDonald’s recently made changes to their Happy Meals. The fries are half the size and apples are automatically included. Changes we are happy about!

You can follow McDonald’s of Northern Indiana and McDonald’s on Twitter.
